A forest fires is an uncontrolled fire occurring in nature. Burning dry grass in fields or yard can spread to nearby forest. It’s become a seasonal phonomenom in Indonesia.

Global Forest Watch, showed that most of the fires are on land that has been planted, where land is set on fire as a cheaper way to clear it for new planting.

In 2014 forest fire in Riau Province. Nearly 50.000 people suffered respiratory problems caused by the haze. That make caused economic losses worth move than 20 trillion. The haze by the fires disrupted around 30% of the economic activities and caused monetary losses in Riau. The haze also affected the health of several residents in Riau and neighboring provinces.

We know that there are so many building like market, mall, hotel, residence, office, etc  that Pekanbaru has. For example SKA Mall, many Giant over Pekanbaru, BNI building like a skyscraper, Telkomsel building etc. That we know land of Pekanbaru is not too big. But, Pekanbaru has so many building.

Meanwhile, our living room showed so many construction still on process, we can see in front of SKA Mall there is on process to build a Living World maybe there is will be an apartment/home, market, playground and so on. And not far from SKA Mall about 200 meters there is on process to build Transmart.

I think in Pekanbaru, all that we want already there. Although that we know we are a human that want more more and more, and  it’s will be target for businessman.

Riau is presently being blanketed by thick smoke from hundreds of hot spots that have sprung up in the last few days.

Thick haze from land and forest fires is reported to have covered again several areas across the province after they had been almost completely distinguished in the past week.

Smoke from huge forest fires in Indonesian has created a cloud of smog over the country, which has spread over neighbouring Malaysia and Singapore.

The fires, which happen every year, are caused by slash-and-burn clearances on the islands of Sumatra and Borneo.

Paper and palm oil companies have been widely blamed for the practice.

Indonesia, which has repeatedly promised to stop the illegal fires, has sent hundreds of military personnel to try to put them out.

It has declared a state of emergency in Riau province, where the haze has been building for several weeks and pollution levels are hazardous to health.

In Malaysia, schools have been closed in the capital, Kuala Lumpur, and several other areas, while Singaporeans are being advised to avoid strenuous activity outdoors.

Based on data collected by the Pekanbaru Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG) Riau had 164 hot spots that spread throughout nine regencies and municipalities across the province, up from 43 reported on the previous day. Indragiri Hilir has 77 hot spots, making it the regency with the highest number of hot spots. Indragiri Hulu ranks second with 31 hot spots, followed by Pelalawan (29), Siak (10), Bengkalis (6), Kampar (5), Dumai (3), Rokan Hilir (2) and Kuantan Singingi (1).

'€œOf the total, 120 hot spots have been identified as fire spots with a trust level of more than 70 percent. Indragiri Hilir has 64 fire spots, followed by Indragiri Hulu (22), Pelalawan (18) and Siak (7). Bengkalis and Dumai have three fire spots each, followed by Kampar (2) and Rokan Hilir (1),'€ BMKG Pekanbaru head Sugarin said on Monday.

Despite such a drastic increase, he said, the number of hot spots in Riau was still far below the ones reported in Jambi and South Sumatra.

Citing BMKG data, he added, the number of hot spots in Jambi and South Sumatra had reached 250 and 247 respectively by Monday morning.

'€œIn total, 759 hot spots are being monitored in Sumatra. The remaining 82 hot spots have been detected in Bangka Belitung, followed by six hot spots in West Sumatra and one hot spot in Bengkulu,'€.

Citing reports from its monitoring post, the BMKG Pekanbaru said the worst visibility decline occurred in Pelalawan, in which haze smoke had reduced visibility to only 800 meters. In Pekanbaru, visibility reached one kilometer, while in Rengat, it reached two kilometers.

'Only Dumai has still had quite good visibility, reaching four kilometers. Shipping activities still run normally.
